Officials have announced that the third annual Grouper Grapple Offshore Fishing Tournament will take place at Fish Tale Marina on Aug. 14-15. In addition to having one of the most professional guide services in the area, Fish Tale Marina also has a long standing history of hosting top notch fishing tournaments and The Grouper Grapple Offshore Fishing Tournament will be no exception.

The Grouper Grapple Offshore Fishing Tournament is paying out 100 percent of the entry fees back to the winning anglers. There are numerous sponsors that have joined us to raise money for the Freedom Alliance, an organization dedicated to helping and caring for our nation's veterans.

Last year, Fish Tale officials worked with Freedom Alliance to bring eight combat wounded veterans to the tournament and provide them with hotel accommodations, airfare, meals, commemorative plaques and two days of back bay fishing. This year, we are stepping it up by bringing back those eight "alumni" as well as bringing eight more of our nation's finest.

Fish Tale Marina offers anglers a prime location and has been generous enough to provide dock slips free of charge to all registered teams. The marina is home to high end amenities, wet slips for boats up to 65 feet in length and a ships store that stocks all of the essentials for a day of fishing.

The Captains Meeting is mandatory, and will be held Friday, Aug. 14. Catered food will be provided. At the Captain's meeting, anglers will receive 2015 tournament gear, the rules will be read and questions answered. There is an honor start with a range limit from Boca Grande to Gordon Pass with a lines in time of 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. All boats must return back to Fish Tale Marina and be in sight of the weigh master by 6 p.m. The weigh station will be located in front of the Fish House Restaurant and will open at 4 p.m. for any boats returning early.

The public is invited to join in the festivities! The 2015 Awards Dinner will be held following the weigh-in. After the official weigh master weighs each team's catch, the catch weighed become property of The Grouper Grapple Offshore Fishing Tournament. The fish will be prepared for all anglers and guests and while tournament participants enjoy dinner, officials will tally the scores to prepare for the awards ceremony. Tournament winners will be announced, checks and trophies awarded to the top teams along with bragging rights!

The entry fee is $600 per boat which includes a five person team any additional anglers are $100 each. For more tournament information, visit www.groupergrapple.com or contact Brian Peachey at 437-6007 or via email at bwpeachey2@yahoo.com .
