To the editor:

A zoning application has been submitted to Lee County which will destroy mangroves and build on designated wetlands. (DCI2016-00026) Eden Oak which is in the Shell Point area.

The critical wetland habitat has been classified as an aquatic resource of national importance because of the critical functions they serve. Destruction of the mangroves and filling of the wetlands has a huge negative impact on critical habitat for endangered species as well as the nursery for the food web that supports an extraordinary fishery.

There are also safety concerns that this intense development will increase traffic congestion and impede hurricane evacuations. There are numerous reasons to object to this proposed zoning application. Please take the time to write a letter of objection and email to Arodriquez4@leegov.com and rsweigert@leegov.com.

For additional information feel free to email me at rogerar1@yahoo.com and I will share sample objection letters and additional information received from SCCF. Check this link for more information and sample letters. www.flickr.com/photos/156952946@N03/
