Woman’s Club benefit combines charity with sport
January 8, 2020

The Fort Myers Beach Woman's Club is looking to get folks into the swing of things with a Putt & Pub Crawl that will benefit nine local nonprofit organizations Saturday, Jan. 18 on Fort Myers Beach.

Participating restaurants include Nervous Nellies, Pete's Time Out, Mango Ritas, La Ola, Matanzas on the Bay, The Whale, Plaka, Pierside Grill, Yucatan Bar and Grill, and the Salty Crab.

"It's just a great way to combine charitable giving and putt-putt inside of our sponsoring restaurants," said Beverly Milligan, president of the Fort Myers Beach Woman's Club. "It's a lot of fun, really ridiculous, and benefits nine local charities," Milligan said.

Registration begins at Nervous Nellies from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The putting begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. There is a cost of $225 per four-person team. Registration forms can be downloaded at Checks and entry forms may be dropped off at the Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce at 2450 Estero Blvd. or emailed to

Each restaurant will be aligned with one of the nonprofit groups, Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce President Jacki Liszak said. There will be raffles for gift baskets at each restaurant. The establishments will each be constructing their own putting holes.

Participants can play the holes in any order. Each sponsoring restaurant will supply the club and golf balls and will have a representative to write down scores. Players must complete all nine holes with scorecards turned in no later than 5 p.m.

There will be a party at Old San Carlos Boulevard and Third Street to cap off the crawl running from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with barbecue and music provided by DL Turner. The prizes will be distributed at the party beginning at 5:30 p.m. The top two finishers will earn awards as will the worst team, best-dressed team and the squad with the best team name. There will be additional awards handed out from judges, sponsors and a People's Choice Award.
